Each Regional Minister aims to develop strong links with ministers and churches in their area. They also have particular responsibilities and interests across the whole Association.

Adrian Argile


Rev Adrian Argile serves churches in the Herefordshire, Shropshire and Black Country Groups. He also has a particular responsibility to help churches develop their effectiveness in mission.

Adrian and Pam (a teacher), with two of their four children, moved from Lancashire to Stourbridge in August 2007. Previously Minister of Kay Street Baptist Church in Rawtenstall, he hopes to bring “encouragement, challenge, stimulus, passion and a listening ear to fellow ministers and church congregations.”

Adrian’s other interests are mainly in the sporting arena - table tennis and golf top the bill!

Andrew Millns

Rev Andrew Millns works with the Staffordshire and North Birmingham Groups of churches and is also engaged in developing aspects of church life.

"I want to enable our churches to keep on learning, growing as disciples and being truly inclusive communities."

Andrew comes into Regional Ministry having served churches in Halesowen, Nantwich and Stafford. He now and worships at Church of the Redeemer, Edgbaston where his wife Gwen is the minister. The family, including three grandchildren, fill some of the spare time but Andrew also enjoys cooking, travel and watching sport.

Barrie Smith

Rev Barrie Smith is based in Hall Green, Birmingham, from where he focuses on the South Birmingham and Coventry & Warwickshire Groups. Among other things, Barrie also works in the areas of ministerial development and mediation.

Following pastorates in Plymouth and Cheltenham, he has been in regional ministry in the Midlands for a number of years. “It has been my vocation to serve God by serving people through His Church.” (He is also a Trustee of BUGB.)

Married to Kathryn, a teacher, they have a grown-up family and twin grandsons. When time permits, Barrie enjoys a round of golf.

Keith Judson

Rev Keith Judson lives in Bewdley, where he was the Minister until 2007. He has responsibility for the Worcestershire Group of churches and is also Team Leader, a role which includes serving HEBA on the National Settlement Team.

Before training for the ministry Keith was a Regional Schools Worker with Scripture Union. He was Minister of Torrington Baptist Church, Devon then moved back to the Midlands (his home town is Bromsgrove) in 2001.

Married to Jill, a Pharmacist, they have three sons with whom Keith shares a keen interest in music. He also loves walking in the local Wyre Forest.

       Lesley Hubball

Mrs Lesley Hubball grew up in Netherton and attended Messiah Baptist Church until it was demolished in 1975. She is currently in membership at Halesowen Baptist Church where she is a Deacon and Secretary. She has been married to Keith for 37 years they have a 24 year old daughter, Victoria, who has graduated from University with a degree in Law and American Legal Studies.

She has worked for the Association for over 10 years. Her role includes administering the Ministry Recognition Group, of which she is Secretary, and organising the Ministers Conference.

 Les enjoys cooking , reading and visiting National Trust properties.

    Karen Martindale

Ms Karen Martindale was born in Guyana, coming to the UK as a small child.  Raised and confirmed in the Methodist Church, she attended a Roman Catholic College where she completed a Bachelor of Humanities Degree in Religious and Classical Studies.

After widening her horizons working as an au pair in Finland, a night-shelterworker in Swindon, a database clerk at Cadbury’s, a housing resettlement worker and a housing aid worker at HMP Birmingham, she stumbled into a job with the Association in 1989.

Karen is a member of New Life Baptist Church, where she was baptised, and has served as a deacon and Treasurer. She is the sole parent of Leah, aged thirteen.

    Gale Richards

As Regional Tutor for Northern Baptist Learning Community Ms Gale Richards helps deliver HEBA’s Learning at the Centre programme in churches and at IMC. She also works alongside the Regional Ministers as HEBA Project Development Worker. Her particular focus is developing/supporting initiatives that meet the needs of churches located in challenging, inner-city, multi-ethnic, multi-faith areas across Birmingham and the Black Country.

Gale grew up in inner-city Birmingham but spent several years working in London, serving variously as a deacon, as a church-based youth worker, as the Ascension Trust Representative for Street Pastors and as an ESOL Tutor.

She has a Masters Degree in Youth & Community Work with Applied Theology.

Gale loves watching tennis and enjoys the theatre, cinema, museums etc.

    David Thompson

Mr David Thompson is married to Irene and they have three children Ruth, Paul and Emma. He worked for Lloyds TSB for 38 years before taking early retirement. 

David became a Christian whilst in The Boys’ Brigade when he was seventeen.  He believes God has given him the ability to work with finance and in addition to being the church treasurer at Tamworth Baptist Church he works three days a week for HEBA.

David enjoys walking – he and Irene once walked right across England (190 miles). He also enjoys exploring his family history and has accumulated some very interesting photos!

    Jon Turner

Jon is an ordained Evangelist.  He came to Christ at 16 year s of age whilst attending a Boy’s Brigade Camp.  His background is in Television, having worked for both the BBC and QVC The Shopping Channel. 

Jon has worked as an evangelist for Share Jesus International in London and currently works as the Director of Evangelism for the Saltmine Trust in partnership with HEBA.  He trained for Baptist Ministry at Spurgeon’s College where he obtained both a Diploma and Masters Degree in Theology.

John heads up Saltmine's Community Outreach Work and loves to work alongside churches, helping them tailor events for their community - including evangelism training. His training work with HEBA churches is funded by the HEBA Mission Development Fund.

He and his wife Jessica have a little girl, Michaela.
