Wednesday, 11 February 2009 00:00

Accredited BUGB Evangelist Gavin Calver, who is a member at Kings Community Church in Brandhall, (Black Country Group in HEBA) has been appointed as the new Director of Youth For Christ.

Gavin Calver

This is an exciting time of change for everyone in YFC, both at a national and local level – where so much of our face-to-face youthwork takes place through the work of Local Centres.

Outgoing Director Roy Crowne approves of the new appointment – “As National Director I have had the privilege of investing in and mentoring younger leaders and, along with the Board I am thrilled that Gavin Calver will succeed me.”

Ken Wright, Chairman of YFC said, “Gavin is an accomplished leader, communicator and innovator who has an amazing passion for taking the Good News to young people.  We are convinced that Gavin is God’s choice to lead YFC to see a whole generation of British young people encounter the love and salvation of Jesus”.

Gavin will take up his new position at the beginning of April, after serving the organization for 8 years, most recently as Director of Church and Schools Resources.

“It is with great excitement that I take up this post.  There are many challenges ahead but I truly believe that we could see something remarkable in the years to come amongst young people”.

YFC has 67 local centres throughout the UK, from Inverness down to the Isle of Wight, working with - and for - the local church to ensure that evangelism and youth work is relevant to local young people.  Each month 300,000 young people hear and see people living out the gospel of Jesus Christ in their local areas.  The national YFC office is in Halesowen, West Midlands.
