An annual study time in Warwick has, once again, seen growth this year. DEEPER, set up by Castle Hill Baptist Church in Warwick four years ago, is an event held over three consecutive evenings where in-depth Bible study is led on an evangelical theme. It is designed to bring internationally known Christian conference speakers to smaller and more intimate venues than, for instance, Keswick or Spring Harvest.
Approximately 330 people gathered recently from all over the West Midlands to hear Dr Derek Tidball, a former president of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and until recently, principal of London Bible College, speak about holiness. Using the title Restoring God’s Masterpiece, Dr Tidball – whose wife Diane will take over as regional minister team leader for the East Midlands Baptist Association from July this year – took six Bible passages and spoke of the holiness of God, and how his people are also called to live holy lives in response to God’s goodness and holiness. ‘DEEPER gives the opportunity for a local audience to hear thorough, biblically grounded and well-presented teaching in a much more in-depth way than a conventional sermon series allows,’ said Castle Hill’s minister the Revd Peter Burns. ‘We have been greatly encouraged by the way in which DEEPER has grown and is clearly being used by God to help local Christians to unite together under the truth of his written word.’ He added that plans for DEEPER 2010 are taking shape. Peter Lewis, senior pastor at Cornerstone Church, Nottingham will be the speaker at Castle Hill next March. (Article courtesy of THE BAPTIST TIMES. Click here for so much more!) |
