Partnership was the key theme on 20 May as eighty people, including a high proportion of ministers, gathered in Erdington for the Heart of England Baptist Association’s AGM.
Underlying many of the contributions lay a particular concern to help churches in urban areas face the challenges of 21st Century mission. There was also discussion in small groups on how best to stimulate prayer in and for the Association. |

Click here for details of this year's Annual General Meeting to be held on 20 May. For some years now the HEBA AGM has been combined with a Family Day – something that in many ways has worked well but which also led to a number of frustrations. Part of the problem has undoubtedly been that many folk who came for the `Family Day’ were unprepared for the AGM, while the latter has sometimes felt rushed or even marginalised. A further concern has been that many Ministers have not made the AGM/ Family Day a priority – probably because Saturdays are precious and perhaps because they have not felt there was much need for them to attend. (A recent on line survey of ministers confirmed that many more would attend a mid-week event.) One copy of the Association Annual Report and Accounts for 2008 has been sent to each Church Secretary and Minister in Pastorate in the post, and you can download other copies from here |

On Saturday 25th April over fifty people, representing eight different Baptist churches, gathered at Warley Baptist Church in the West Midlands for a day of training in personal evangelism and mission.
The Heart of England Baptist Association and Saltmine Trust staged the event and invited churchgoers from across the region to attend. Rev Adrian Argile (HEBA) and Rev Jon Turner (Saltmine Trust) taught the basics on how to share faith. Topics covered included how to engage with your neighbours, share your testimony, and tell a good story. The day also offered ideas on wider church mission and outreach so that delegates could host an evangelistic event suitable for those on the fringe of the church community. |
